Yenni feeds her brain!
posted April 10, 2013

Yenni and her classmates wait patiently as their teacher escorts them back into their classroom. Thanks to your donation, Michael, Yenni can continue feeding her brain this year through Esperanza. It is so important to start education early, and this is something that unfortunately not all Dominicans have the opportunity of doing.
Thanks again — Yenni will be eternally grateful for your donation of knowledge and opportunity.

Anita Smiles Bright!
posted April 10, 2013

One month ago, Anita took out her first loan with the Esperanza bank in her community. When a dental clinic came to the community to offer their assistance to Esperanza associates, she was excited to be able to take advantage of one of Esperanza’s complementary services so soon. When we visited her, Anita enthusiastically told us about her neighborhood corner store where she sells rice, beans, oil, charcoal and fried food to earn a living and provide for her three children.
Thank you, Carlos, your donation made it possible for associates like Anita to receive this valuable service.
Anita wants us to tell you “Gracias Carlos!”

Lucia smiles with pride
posted April 10, 2013

It has been two and half years since Lucía became an Esperanza associate. She started out with a 5,000 peso loan, and now is taking out her fifth loan with Esperanza for 10,000 pesos. In her corner store in Consuelo, Dominican Republic, she sells charcoal, bread, peanut brittle, and fresh juices. She also makes and sells two varieties of Haitian peanut butter – one that is spicy and one that has less of a kick. She can now send her children to school because of the growth of her business, which was only possible through the loan she received.
Now that Lucia is an associate of Esperanza, she has access to health and education services and was able to receive a women’s health exam for the very first time.
In the future, Lucia hopes to have sufficient income to help with the education of her grandchildren and financially support the construction of a new building for her church. She also wants to remain healthy and strong for her family.
Thank you, Nick, for your generous donation. Lucia will forever be grateful!

Fernando feels confident
posted March 27, 2013

The Dominican Republic’s public investment in education is 2.3% of their gross domestic product, which ranks 122nd out of 132 countries. This leaves little opportunities for students like Fernando. Fernando lives in San Pedro de Macorix and has been given the best kind of gift he could imagine: a chance at a brighter future through the work of Esperanza International.
Fernando, like many of his classmates, dreams of playing baseball professionally, but knows that school comes first. Thanks to your priceless donations, Fernando can grow into a smart, well rounded individual.
Your donation has made an incredible impact in the life of Fernando, and for this he says Gracias!
