Lucia smiles with pride

Lucia
Dear Nick,

It has been two and half years since Lucía became an Esperanza associate. She started out with a 5,000 peso loan, and now is taking out her fifth loan with Esperanza for 10,000 pesos.  In her corner store in Consuelo, Dominican Republic, she sells charcoal, bread, peanut brittle, and fresh juices. She also makes and sells two varieties of Haitian peanut butter – one that is spicy and one that has less of a kick. She can now send her children to school because of the growth of her business, which was only possible through the loan she received.

Now that Lucia is an associate of Esperanza, she has access to health and education services and was able to receive a women’s health exam for the very first time.

In the future, Lucia hopes to have sufficient income to help with the education of her grandchildren and financially support the construction of a new building for her church. She also wants to remain healthy and strong for her family.

Thank you, Nick, for your generous donation. Lucia will forever be grateful!
