Your seemingly small donation of $25 has made a huge difference in Criselda’s life. Criselda is a veteran associate of Esperanza and has taken out more than 8 loans. When she started with Esperanza she took out an initial loan of $130 US. Now, after more than 4 years of investing her capital, energy, dedication, and faith into her small beauty salon, is capable of taking out a $800 loan! Thanks to her commitment with Esperanza and donors like you Katie, Criselda was able to receive her yearly women’s health exam.
Not only is she now sure she is healthy, but she has invested in another vital complementary service, the vocational training courses. Rosa Julia Strives For A Brighter Future!

Rosa Julia is 44 years old and was able to receive a health exam today thanks to your valuable donation. Rosa Julia recently took out her first loan with Esperanza, and because of this now has access to health care.
The doctor met Rosa and her bank members in the central office where they were all able to receive an exam for the very first time. Rosa sells used clothing in her community of los Toccones, and has been able to invest in more merchandise thanks to now having access to capital. She can now buy in bulk, and save money on traveling back and forth to the capital.
Most importantly, Rosa now knows why it is important to stay healthy not only for herself, but for her family and has you to thank Peter! Rosa dreams of one day building a home for herself and her 3 children, and believes that with her new loan she will be able to do so!

Maria Teaches Her Community How To Brush!

Maria was able to receive a vital complementary service because of the commitment she has made with Esperanza as well as your valuable donation. Maria is not only a leader in her community, but happens to be the pastor of her church. Your $15 donation provided Maria with a basic dental cleaning as well as the information on how to take care of her teeth.
She is now able to pass this information to all the members of her congregation and her community, and can be a living example of practicing proper dental health care. In the area of Samaná where Maria resides, many Dominicans live with diminished dental hygiene because of lack of information, health care products, and the type of food they consume.

Rosie Gets Her First Health Exam In 49 Years!

Every day Rosie Maria walks the streets of her community selling new and used clothing, shoes, as well as cosmetics; basically a little bit of everything in order to support herself and her 4 children. Rosie lives in an area of la Romana, Dominican Republic called Pica Pierda, and moved there from Port-au-Prince, Haiti 4 years ago.
After hearing about Esperanza through some of her community members, Rosie decided to take out a loan with Esperanza. She states that she now is able to buy and sell more merchandise which gives her and her family more financial stability. Not only is she more financially sound, but Rosie and her family now have access to health care and the opportunity of receiving an education.
Because of your donation of $25, Rosie was able to receive a health exam for the very first time. It is recommended that women receive the exam annually, but until today Rosie did not have access to the exam, or the knowledge of its importance. Evania Gets Prepared!

Evania is 31 years of age, and is in the process of paying back her first loan. She has invested her money into her small colmado which is a small corner store where she sells rice, oil, beans, vegetables, etc. Now Evania is able to amplify the kind of merchandise she sells from her colmado which brings her more revenue, in turn providing more stability not only in the work place but in the home as well. She now rests assure knowing she can put food on the table for her family, something that has brought her an intangible amount of joy.
Because of the agreement Evania made with Epseranza and donors like you Rick and Beth, she was able to receive a woman’s health exam for the very first time. Epifania Feels Prepared!

Epifania is getting a women’s health exam for the first time with Esperanza today thanks to a generous donation of $25. Epifania is 48 years old and sells vitamins and cold medicine in her community of Villa Progresso in La Romana, located in the east of the Dominican Republic. She now has more capital to invest in her business, which means more merchandise to sell.
Epifania states that “Esperanza is very important for disadvantaged women like me – it is important to exemplify that there is hope.” She also states that today she not only was able to receive the vital exam, but learned why it is important to do so. It is essential to be prepared to fight Cervical Cancer.

Raydy Smile Has a Whole New Shine!

Raydy is 19 years old and loves playing baseball. He like many of his Dominican friends, dreams of playing in the major leagues one day, and is dedicated to turning his dream into a reality. Rayday has been able to learn the importance of taking care of his dental hygiene, thanks to your donation of a cavity prevention program Maurice.
Raydy has never received a fluoride treatment, as well as never was taught the importance of brushing multiple times a day. Thanks to your donation of $15, Raydy was able to receive this vital information.

Sue May Finally Has Access To A Woman’s Health Exam!

Sue May is a new associate of Esperanza who recently took out a loan for a “Paleteria”, a small candy cart where she is able to sell sweets and fruit. Today Sue May and her new bank members met in the branch office of La Romana, where they had the opportunity to receive their very first woman’s exam.
In Sue’s 27 years, she has never received a Pap exam until today. She is married with 3 children and states that she knew it was important, but never had access to the exam. Thanks to your donation Alice and Brad, Sue was able to receive this very important exam, something that every woman should have the opportunity to do.

Segunda Takes Out Her First Loan!

Segunda just took out her first loan through Esperanza and states that she couldn’t be happier! She used her first loan to invest in a small “colmado”, a corner store where she sells rice, oil, ice, chicken, etc. Segunda makes her home in a community of la Romana called Villa Hermosa, and has lived in this community all her life.
Segunda is a 48 year old mother of 5 and this is the first time in her life she has been able to have a Pap exam through Esperanza. Segunda states that now with access to capital, she has been able to buy more merchandise and therefore sell more at her colmado.

Teresa Loves Feeling Confident In Her Health!

Teresa is a 40 year old woman of Haitian decent who makes her home in a small Batey outside of La Romana. A Batey is a small community that thrives off the sugar harvesting industry. Teresa sells used clothing and cosmetics thanks to the micro loan she acquired through Esperanza. She was recently able to receive a Pap exam for the first time in 40 years thanks to your donation of $25.
Your donation provided Teresa with the exam itself as well as the analysis of the results. She will be informed of her results next week, which will provide her the ability to take action if it need be. She now knows the importance of cervical health and why it is vital for her to stay healthy for her three children.
