Udnay Moves Forward

Dear Laurent,

 

Udnay is 24 years old and moved to the Dominican Republic from Haiti after the devastating earthquake. Udnay lost both his mother and his father in the earthquake, and moved to the Dominican Republic with his brother in search of a better life. He is now enrolled in Spanish classes at la Iglesia Biblica de la Trinidad in order to continue studying to become an engineer.

Unfortunately, Udnay was injured during the earthquake when falling debris hit him in head, and is still suffering headaches. This Spanish class has given him hope at a more promising future and a new found understanding of his possible opportunities.

Thanks to donors like you, children like Edison were able to take care of their teeth! Edison received a cavity prevention program today, which means he received a fluoride treatment and was educated on why it is important that he care for his teeth in the future. Edison lives in Samaná, a beautiful town here in the Dominican Republic, but unfortunately doesn’t have the means to receive regular dental cleanings. Rafaela is an associate of Esperanza, and makes her home in a community called Los Cacao in Samana, which is located in the Dominican Republic. Because of this program she learned how to properly brush her teeth, what kind of foods to avoid, and how to make sure her grandchildren are doing so as well! Thanks to your donation Carmen is now smiling brighter! Carmen is 46 years old, and is from the community of Los Cacao located in Samaná, here in the Dominican Republic. Your gift of $15 made it possible for Carmen to receive the vital service of a cavity prevention program. Not only did Carmen receive a fluoride treatment, but also the knowledge on why it is important to take care of her teeth, information that she can now pass down to her two daughters. Carmen took out a micro loan with Esperanza, and is now in the process of paying back her 7th loan. She invested her loan money into selling everything from clothing, shoes, and even silver. Joel Learns How To Brush His Teeth!

Thanks to your kind donation Joel was the grateful recipient of a cavity prevention program! Joel’s mother is an associate of Esperanza, which means she has taken out a small loan in order to start her own business. She used her loan money to buy clothing in bulk, in order to save on transportation costs, and sells her merchandise in her small community in Samaná.

Because of her relationship with Esperanza, Joel is now entitled to receive vital health services that the organization provides, and the cavity prevention program is just an example of one of these services. Not only did Joel receive a fluoride treatment and cleaning, but also the knowledge on how to properly take care of his teeth in order to keep them healthy in the future. Ibedulase is 35 years old and is enrolled in Spanish classes here in la Iglesia Biblica de la Trinidad. He is now learning the basics of the language such as grammar, greetings, sentence structure, expressions, negation, etc. Thanks to your donation Laurent, Ibedulase is able to continue broadening his Spanish knowledge and make a home for himself here in the Dominican Republic. In Haiti, he was studying to become an engineer, and after learning the Spanish language can continue to do so here in the Dominican.
